Is Japanese language too complicated for addressing your meaning?

No, every language has its nuances and a lack of addressing your meaning is more due to the speaker than the language itself. I think for that film in particular, it's just continuing the Western stereotype of miscommunication/translation of Asian languages. Lots of talk but translate only down to a few words such as Kung Fu movies. But more so for that film, it's the alienation of the main characters. Look at the title.
