Will this rocket launchpad design work?

I am planning on launching a three fin, homemade 50" tall rocket with a K450 engine. Although I am aware that you can use a standard launchpad with a launch rodm I want to know if a certain design would work. What if you had 3, 1.5" PVC poles set up in a circle, equidistant. There would be a slit in the PVC pipes that the fins would go into. This would allow the rocket to go upwards while not pitching to either side. I thought that this would work because it doesn't matter if the rocket rotates, but only if it pitches. I could also see the fins getting caught on launch and shearing off. Thaughts?
